Okta | Forgot Password, Change Password Enrollment (Prerequisite for Resetting a Forgotten Password)

When to Use?

Setup guide to enroll your mobile phone number as a requirement to enable the "Forgot password" functionality in Okta.

Procedure

Instructions for enrolling your mobile phone number in Okta.

  1. Sign in to Okta (https://my.gvsu.edu).

  2. Proceed with your MFA authentication (Universal Duo MFA pictured below).

  3. In the upper right-hand corner click on your name and select "Settings."

  4. Scroll down to Security Methods and click "Set up" next to Phone.

  5. Enter your GVSU password and then click "Verify."

  6. You will then be prompted to verify with your MFA (Duo Universal shown below).

  7. Click "Set up" under Phone.

  8. Enter your mobile phone number and then select "Receive a code via SMS."

  9. You will then receive a text message to the mobile number, enter the code and select "Verify."

  10. You will be redirected back to the Security Methods section under settings.
