1. What is Okta? Okta is an identity management service that provides secure access to various applications and systems with a single set of credentials. It simplifies the login process for users by enabling single sign-on (SSO) and multi-factor authentication (MFA).

2. How do I set up my Okta account for the first time? To set up your Okta account, you'll need to follow this enrollment link. Once you follow the link, you'll be guided through setting up your account, including adding your basic information, setting up a password, and configuring multi-factor authentication options.

3. What should I do if I forget my Okta password? If you forget your password, you can reset it by clicking on the "Forgot Password?" link on the Okta login page. You'll be asked to enter your email address, and Okta will send you instructions on how to reset your password. Alternatively, you can call the IT Service Desk at (616) 331-2101.  

4. How do I add an application to my Okta dashboard? To add an application to your Okta dashboard, log into your Okta homepage, and click on the "Add Apps" button. 5. How does multi-factor authentication (MFA) work with Okta? Multi-factor authentication in Okta requires you to provide two or more verification factors to gain access to your applications. Okta supports various MFA methods, including Duo (fac/staff only), Okta Verify (push notification), and Google Authenticator.

6. Can I access Okta on my mobile device? Yes, Okta can be accessed via mobile devices by going to https://my.gvsu.edu.

7. What should I do if I'm having trouble logging into an application through Okta? If you're having trouble logging into an application, ensure that you are using the correct credentials and that your account is not locked. If problems persist, contact the GVSU IT Service Desk for further assistance.

8. How secure is Okta? Okta is designed with security as a priority. It uses robust encryption methods, regular security testing, and compliance measures to ensure that your data and access to applications are secure.

9. Can I customize my Okta dashboard? Yes, you can customize your Okta dashboard by adding or removing applications, rearranging icons, and changing settings to suit your workflow. This can be done by clicking the "Edit" button on your Okta homepage.
