Okta Verify

Okta Verify is a multi-factor authentication (MFA) app developed by Okta. It allows users to verify their identity when they sign into Okta, making it less likely that someone pretending to be the user can gain access to the account. Okta Verify adds a level of convenience to the user authentication process, enables users to verify their identity with a single tap on their mobile device, and provides immediate application access while retaining a high level of security.

Okta Verify offers two authentication methods:

  1. Time-Based On-Time Password (TOTP) codes generated by an app like Google Authenticator.
  2. Confirm a push notification sent directly to your device through the Okta Verify app

Getting Started with Okta Verify

You must download/enroll in the Okta Verify App to access New York Tech systems and resources:

  • Download the Okta Verify app on your device(s) by clicking the appropriate link below:

Here are several examples of when you may be prompted to provide your GVSU credentials and MFA:

  • Logging in from different locations over short periods of time
  • Logging in from off-campus locations—especially some international locations
  • Multiple failed log-in attempts
  • Changes in the typical access method, like accessing resources from a new device or a new browser.
