Moving Tests and Pools from Classic to Ultra

When to Use?

This article outlines the different methods used to move Tests and Pools from a Blackboard Classic course to an Ultra course.

Procedure

There are several ways to move Tests and Pools from a Classic course into an Ultra course. To make sure that you follow the most relevant process, please read the text describing each method before you try to follow the instructions. Each approach has different results. Exporting and Importing Tests from Classic to Ultra

• The steps found in the page linked above can be used to export and import an Undeployed Test from a Classic course into an Ultra course. Undeployed Tests are tests that have not been made available to students in a Classic course, and can only be found under the Course Tools > Tests, Surveys, and Pools > Tests area of a Classic course.
• Once the test is imported into an Ultra course, an "Undeployed Tests" folder will be created in the Course Content area of the course where the test can be found.

Copying Deployed Tests from Classic to Ultra

• The steps found in the page linked above can be used to copy a Test from a Classic course into an Ultra course. In order to copy a Test using the Copy Content function in Ultra, it must be deployed in the Classic course you are copying it from. A deployed Test in Classic is a test that has been made available to students in one of the course content areas.
• Only supported question types and Test Settings will be copied. View the following Blackboard article for a full list of supported question types: Question Types.

Exporting and Importing Question Pools from Classic to Ultra

• The steps found in the page linked above can be used to export a Pool from a Classic Course and import it into Ultra as a Question Bank. Question Banks can be used to build assessments within your Ultra course in the following ways:

  • Using Question Banks for Creating a Test with Random Blocks

  • Reuse Questions (Ultra) - Instructor

  • Create a Test in the Ultra Course View

Note: Third-party Tests, Pools, or Question Banks downloaded directly from a third-party publisher should be imported into an Ultra course using the Import Content option in an Ultra course. More information can be found here: How to Import Question Banks (Ultra) - Instructor
