Exporting and Importing Tests from Classic into Ultra

When to Use?

This article will walk you through exporting a test from a Blackboard Classic course and importing the test into a Blackboard Ultra course. This option creates an "Undeployed Tests" folder in your Ultra course content page, which contains imported tests.

Procedure

1. Navigate to lms.gvsu.edu

2. Click the Courses tab. Then click on the Classic course from which you want to export the test.

5. In your Tests area, find the Test you want to export and click the gray drop-down arrow next to the test name.

6. Click "Export to Local Computer." The test will be downloaded to your computer.

7. Once the Test file has been downloaded, you can leave your Classic course.

8. Within the courses page, click on the Ultra course you want to import the test into.

10. Click "Import Content," then "Import a course content package."

Note: You may receive a warning at the bottom of your screen that there was an exception with your import. Please check the test in your Ultra course after importing to ensure it is as expected. For a list of question types currently supported in Ultra, please see Blackboard’s Question Types.

11. You will see an “Importing Course Content” message in your course after clicking import. You can refresh your page if this message does not disappear in 10 seconds.

12. Scroll down to the bottom of your course content. You will see that an Undeployed Tests folder was automatically created. Click the folder to expand it.

13. Click on the test you imported to confirm that the questions appear correctly. You can update the value of points per question and Test Settings, such as the due date and the number of attempts.

14. Once you’ve confirmed test questions and settings, you can move the test out of the Undeployed Tests folder and into the relevant content area. Make the test visible to students immediately, or click Release Conditions to set up date and time restrictions. Note: Any tests found under the Undeployed Tests folder will generate a column in the gradebook. This may affect the overall or total column.
