When to Use?
You can access messages from both the Messages link in Ultra Base Navigation and within each individual course or organization.
NOTE: Messages are automatically sent as emails to recipients. We encourage our Blackboard community to read and understand the GVSU Email Policy to ensure any communication sent inside of Blackboard is in accordance with the policy.
Procedure
In Ultra Base Navigation, select Messages. Find the course or organization in which you’d like to send a message. Click the New Message link to begin a new message.
The new message window opens.
NOTE: by default, the Allow replies to this message option is enabled.
Click in the Recipients box to select who will receive the message. You can send messages to each other, multiple people, or an entire class.
After adding your message, click the Send button in the lower right corner.
Messages are automatically sent as emails to recipients.
This information also applies to organizations.
Important Notification Setting
Make sure your email notification for receiving messages is NOT selected. If it is selected, recipients will receive an email of the message they can reply to, but also a notification email of the message that they will not be able to reply to. Disabling the notification of new messages makes it so only the message is sent as email and it will allow the recipient to reply to it.
