REDCap

Description

REDCap is a HIPAA-compliant tool produced and developed by Vanderbilt University which GVSU utilizes for Research. REDCap is web based and allows researchers to create, design, and manage research data and includes built-in audit trails and export controls to various statistical formats (SPSS, SAS, Stata, R). Student access to projects should be requested by the faculty or staff member overseeing the project(s) via this service.

From their website: REDCap is a secure web application for building and managing online surveys and databases. While REDCap can be used to collect virtually any type of data in any environment (including compliance with 21 CFR Part 11, FISMA, HIPAA, and GDPR), it is specifically geared to support online and offline data capture for research studies and operations.

The Academic Research Computing team within Information Technology manages the REDCap system at GVSU. External (non-GVSU) users can be added to projects overseen by GVSU faculty or staff. Once you have created your project and are satisfied with your testing, the supervising faculty or staff member overseeing the project can move the project to production. GVSU student projects must be Initiated by GVSU faculty or staff member and faculty/staff advisers are responsible for oversight of the data collection processes and data security. Please see the REDCap website for videos, detailed instructions, and links to REDCap community resources. To request access to REDCap, or to add/remove users to/from an existing project please submit a ticket using this service.
