Known Issues when Copying from Classic to Ultra

When to Use?

This article describes known issues related to copying from a Classic course view to an Ultra course view.

Procedure

When it comes to copying content from Blackboard Classic to Blackboard Ultra, there are several items that we do not recommend copying. Copying these items may result in unexpected errors:

  • 3rd Party Content – Oftentimes, copying 3rd party content will create duplicates that are difficult to delete. This includes any content from publishers such as McGraw-Hill Connect, Pearson, etc.
    • Often times, these errors appear in the form of gradebook columns and assignments that cannot be deleted. Please contact us with assistance using the link below.

  • LTI Integrations – The LTIs for Classic and Blackboard Ultra are different and will not copy over. LTI integrations can include Panopto, Padlet, etc.
    • Often times, these errors appear as Panopto videos or other LTI content (Padlet, Hypothesis, etc.) missing from your course. To resolve this, you will need to create a new connection from within your Ultra course and pull the LTI content into your new course directly.

  • Discussion Boards – Discussions in Blackboard Ultra are set up differently than in Blackboard Classic. Copying Discussions from one to the other may not work as expected. It is best to create a new Discussion directly in Blackboard Ultra and copy & paste the text from the Discussion Board in Blackboard Classic.
    • This error appears in the form of discussion board threads that cannot be deleted. Please contact us with assistance using the link below.
