Classroom Computer Not Working / Can't Log In

Most classroom computer issues can be narrowed down to just a few causes. In this article, we will outline some of the issues that could lead to being unable to use or log into a classroom computer.

Power Issues

One of the most common causes of a classroom PC not working is the fact that the PC is not turned on. First check that the PC itself is powered on. If you cannot find the power button or the PC does not turn on, you will need to test the power of the instructor station and confirm that there is not a fault with the instructor station.

Next, check that the Extron system is powered on and set to PC. Also confirm that the monitors of the PC are turned on.

Can't Log In

Log in access to classrooms/labs requires your network account and password in the format: 'NetworkID@office' Your department container is not necessary.

If you receive the message "we can't sign you in with this credential because your domain isn't available..." please check the network connectivity of the instructor station network cable. This message usually means that the PC is unable to access the network. Check that the network cable is plugged into the network jack at the instructor station terminals on the wall.

Occasionally, you will receive a message that the password or username is incorrect or that the domain is incorrect even though you have entered the domain and credentials correctly. In these instances, it is advised to power cycle the PC and turn it off and turn it back on again.
