Create a Hypothesis GVSU Save - VitalSource Assignment

When to Use?

Follow the steps below to add a Hypothesis assignment to a Blackboard Ultra course using GVSU Save/VitalSource materials.

Procedure

1. Find the GVSU Save / VitalSource Bookshelf URL of the text you will be assigning.

a. Open the GVSU Save / VitalSource tool link in your Learn Ultra course, click the Instructor Portal tab, and select Launch Bookshelf.

b. Find the book you will be assigning and click the View details button for that text.

c. On the Details sidebar, copy the URL for the text. You will use this URL later when you create the Hypothesis assignment in your LMS.

2. Create the Hypothesis assignment in your Learn Ultra course.

a. From the Course Content page, click on the plus (+) icon to show the Create Content menu. Select Content Market.

b. Under Institution Tools locate Hypothesis and click the plus (+) icon in the lower right corner. Note: Do not click anywhere else on the Hypothesis panel but on the small plus icon.

c. A Hypothesis content item should now be visible on the Course Content page. Click the 3 dots on the right side of the Hypothesis item and select Edit.

d. Change the name of the Hypothesis assignment to something appropriate. Check the box to Create a grade book entry for this item if desired and set the grading options.

e. Click Save when finished.

f. Click on the newly created content item to finish configuring your Hypothesis assignment. In the Assignment Details window, click Select book from VitalSource.

g. Paste the VitalSource text URL from step 1 above and select Enter on your keyboard. Hypothesis will indicate that it can access the text by showing the book title and a thumbnail of the cover.

h. Click the Select book button.

i. Choose the location where you want your students to begin annotating. This will be the page that opens when the Hypothesis link is selected.Starting Location of the Annotation

j. Click the Select button.

k. Complete the remaining Assignment Details and click Continue.

l. The text will open with the Hypothesis Annotations panel open on the right.
