Overview
By default, all accounts on GVSU-managed Windows 11 computers are set up as standard user accounts, meaning they do not have administrator privileges. If you need to install software, change system settings, or perform other tasks requiring administrator access, you must request temporary administrator rights.
How to Request Administrator Access
- Click the Windows 11 Administrator Access button in this Service Offering: Windows 11 Administrator Access.
- Follow the steps on the screen to submit your request.
- Requests are approved within 5-10 minutes.
How Long Does Access Last?
- You will have administrator access for 24 hours once approved.
- After that, your account will return to standard access.
- If you still need admin rights, submit a new request.
Things to Keep in Mind
- Admin access is temporary for security reasons.
- Only request it if you really need it.
- Be careful when installing programs or changing settings, as this can affect system performance.
- If you have problems, contact IT support for help.
