How to Embed a YouTube Video

When to Use?

Embedding YouTube videos into your course allows easier access for your students to view them. YouTube videos can be embedded into your Blackboard Ultra course using one of the following methods:

Procedure

Using the YouTube Video option in a Document

1. Go to your course's Content tab and click the plus icon (+) to access content options.

2. From the content list, select Document.

Click on the plus button to access the create menu in order to create a document

3. Provide a name for your document and then select Add Content.

4. In the text editor, click on the Insert Content button (+), and from the list select YouTube Video.

5. In the new page, type the title of the video and click Search. Once you've found the video, click Select.

6. In the next page, click Insert.

7. Once back in your Blackboard course, you can add more videos using the steps ahead if needed, then click Save.

Using the HTML embed code in a Document

If you have a video you would like to share in your course open on YouTube, you can use the HTML embed code found in the video settings to share with your students. To do this, you will have to embed the YouTube video in a document.

1. To create a new document to embed your YouTube video in, follow the Steps 1 through 3 above, but instead of clicking Add Content, you will click Add HTML

2. Now, in a different browser tab, navigate to the YouTube video you would like to share. Under the YouTube video, click Share

3. Click Embed, then click Copy near the long Embed Video code

4. Come back to your course document, and in the HTMl box, right-click your mouse and click Paste

5. Once the HTML code has been pasted in the code box, click Save
