Using Lockdown Browser With Dual Monitors: Tips for Larger Screens

When to Use?

Respondus LockDown Browser is intentionally designed not to support multiple monitors. It disables secondary displays to prevent cheating by restricting access to other resources. However, you can still use it on your larger monitor by making sure it's set as your primary display.

Procedure

Windows: Set Larger Monitor as Primary Display

  1. Right-click on the desktop and select Display settings.
  2. In the diagram showing your monitors, click the box representing your larger monitor.
  3. Scroll down and check the box that says "Make this my main display".
  4. Click Apply.
  5. Close any open applications.
  6. When Respondus LockDown Browser launches it will open on the primary (larger) display.

Mac: Set Larger Monitor as Primary Display

  1. Go to System Settings > Displays.
  2. Click "Arrange" (you’ll see your displays layout).
  3. Drag the white menu bar to your larger monitor. This makes it your primary display.
  4. Close System Settings.
  5. When Respondus LockDown Browser launches it will open on the larger display.

Important Notes:

  • LockDown Browser will black out or disable the second screen during use.
  • You cannot span LockDown Browser across two screens; this is by design.
