Windows 11 22H2 "Stuck Loading Virtual Machine" - STRATUS

When to Use?

In September 2022, Microsoft released the 22H2 update for Windows 11 clients. This caused clients to fail to complete a connection to Remote Desktop Sessions. The fixes described in this article are recommended to users of Windows 11 version 22H2 who are experiencing issues connecting to STRATUS only.

Procedure

IMPORTANT NOTE: Microsoft has released an update that should resolve this issue.  Please see their support article: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/january-26-2023-kb5022360-os-build-22621-1194-preview-f6973dbe-bcc4-402a-8b9a-0541b0959403.  If you apply this update and are still having issues getting into STRATUS please follow the fix detailed below.

 

  • Click the Windows key and search Powershell. Right click and "Run as Administrator"

  • Copy and paste this command in the Powershell window and press Enter:
    Set-ExecutionPolicy -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -Scope CurrentUser
  • If prompted for confirmation, type A (for Yes to All) then press enter (the script you will run later will reset the execution policy to a more secure policy).

  • On the right side of this page there is an Attachments section. Click on the file (Stratus_Win11_Fix_V3.ps1) to download it to your computer.  Be sure to note the location you saved it to.
  • Go to the folder where you saved the file, Right-Click the file and select Run with PowerShell.

  • Test to verify you are now able to connect to STRATUS.
