The Duo Mobile app is the easiest and most secure way to complete Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) at GVSU.
We understand that some people may hesitate to install the app on a personal device. However, here are a few important benefits:

Does not give GVSU access to your personal device or any of its contents

Can be installed on a smartphone or a tablet
The Duo Mobile app works on smartphones and tablets, giving you flexibility in how you authenticate.

Other MFA Options
While the Duo Mobile app is the recommended and most secure option, there are alternative methods available if you are unable or prefer not to use the app.
Use a Landline Phone
You may register a landline phone number. When logging in, Duo will place an automated call to that number. Simply answer the call and follow the prompts to approve the login.
Use SMS Text Messages
You can receive a passcode by text message on any cell phone, even if the Duo Mobile app is not installed. During login, choose the text message option and enter the passcode you receive.
If You Do Not Have a Smartphone or Tablet

You may register a landline phone number for phone call authentication.

If a landline is not available, speak with your supervisor about requesting a Duo hardware token.

A Duo hardware token is a small keychain-sized device that generates a passcode for login.
