When to Use?
This article will walk you through giving Zoom session participants the ability to share their screen and record during a meeting. This is helpful for Zoom sessions where students may need to share their screen and record meetings in breakout rooms.
Procedure
For security reasons, participants screen sharing and recording during a Zoom meeting is disabled by default. You can enable screen sharing and recording for participants on a per meeting basis, or you can change your settings to enable participant both by default for all meetings.
Enable Participant Screen Sharing for a Single Meeting
1. Within the Zoom meeting, click the arrow next to Share Screen and select Advanced Sharing Options.

2. Under "Who can share?" select All Participants.

In some instances you may need to update participants sharing permissions from the Security settings during the meeting.
1. After launching the Zoom session, go to the Zoom toolbar and click on the Security icon.

2. Go to Allow Participants and then click on Share Screen to select the option. If there is a checkmark next to Share Screen, it is already turned on.

Note: By turning on this feature, all participants will be able to share their screen in both the main room and any breakout rooms.
Enable Participant Screen Sharing for All Meetings by Default
1. Visit gvsu-edu.zoom.us/, click Sign In, and log in with your GVSU Network Account username and password.
2. Click Settings on the left-hand side of the screen.
3. On the Meetings tab, scroll down to the Screen Sharing heading. Under "Who can share?", select All Participants and click Save.

Allow Participant Recording Before Opening the Breakout Rooms
1. Open the “Participants” panel.
2. Hover your cursor over a participants name and select the “More >” option.

3. In the dropdown menu select “Allow to Record Local Files”. Once the participant joins a breakout room they will now have the ability to start a local recording that will be saved to their computer.

Note: Perform the above procedure for each participant that will need to record their breakout room.
If the breakout rooms have already been started then a host can join the room and allow a participant to record from the breakout rooms “Participants” panel.
Allow Participant Recording After Opening the Breakout Rooms
1. Join a breakout room.
2. Hover your cursor over a participants name and select the “More >” option.

3. In the dropdown menu select “Allow to Record Local Files”. Once the participant joins a breakout room they will now have the ability to start a local recording that will be saved to their computer.

Note: Perform the above procedure for each participant that will need to record their breakout room.
Participants can start a recording using the following procedures.
1. Click Record in the meeting controls to start a local recording.
2. Click the pause or stop icon in the meeting controls to pause or stop the recording.

3. The recording can also be stopped or paused by clicking the indicator in the top left corner.
