How to Connect to STRATUS from a Mobile Device or Chromebook

When to Use? (and Why)

With a Microsoft Remote Desktop app for mobile devices, you have the same access to a remote Windows environment via STRATUS as you would from a desktop computer.

A mobile device such as an iPhone, iPad, or Android device is not likely going ot be a great primary-use option for you for STRATUS; however, if you find yourself in a bind where you need to access some on-network resources or need to turn in an assignment last minuteā€”it might help you out in a pinch.

Notes on Chromebooks

The HPC Support Team has not been able to verify first-hand the usability of connecting to STRATUS from a Chromebook. However, a few of students have reported success installing the Microsoft Remote Desktop App for Android.

Microsoft does not have a full native Remote Desktop application for Chromebooks; however, many (but not all) Chromebooks can run Android apps. Please see Google's guide for installing Android apps on a Chromebook before proceeding.
