Geospatial Learning Lab

When to Use?

Some ARC/GIS courses have access to Learning Lab. This article gives you a general overview of the VM's.

Accessing Learning Lab

To access learning lab you can do so by following this KB article.

File Management

These VM’s that are made available to you are persistent so any files you save on there will still be there when you leave the VM and come back. You can get files on and off the VM by setting up your OneDrive on the VM. This Microsoft article will show you how to do that. You can also go to google chrome or edge and from there you can go to OneDrive or Google Drive and sign in that way as well.

Note: If you setup OneDrive using the application on the VM you won’t have to do it every time, unless you reset your VM.

Note: All learning lab VM's are reset after the end of the semester.

Resetting your VM’s

With these VM’s you have the option to reset your VM. This means you can reset it back to what it was at the beginning of the semester if it were to break or something goes wrong. Make sure you are okay with resetting the VM before you do because any data that was on the VM will now be gone.

ArcGIS Pro Sign In Bug Workaround

There has been reporting of an issue with the ArcGIS Pro 3.0 sign in process that causes the software to crash after trying to sign in. If you notice you are having trouble signing in to ArcGIS Pro using your credentials and see the software suddenly crash after what should be a successful sign in attempt, please consider trying the following process to get around this issue: when the ArcGIS Pro sign in screen shown below appears click on the “Sign in Using Browser” button in the bottom right of the window and then proceed with the sign in process in your web browser. This should allow you to sign in and open ArcGIS Pro successfully. For future sign in attempts ArcGIS Pro should remember that you prefer to sign in using the browser so this issue should not appear again once you have utilized this work around on the VM.
