If text and icons appear too small or too large on your screen, you can adjust your display resolution and magnification settings in Windows 11. This guide will walk you through both processes step by step.
Change Display Resolution
Changing the display resolution can make items on your screen appear sharper or larger, depending on your needs.
Steps to Change Resolution
- Right-click on the desktop and select Display settings.
- Scroll down to the Display resolution section.
- Click the dropdown menu to see available resolutions.
- Select the recommended resolution (marked as “Recommended”) for the best display quality.
- If needed, choose a lower resolution to make items appear larger.
- Click Apply.
- Windows will ask you to confirm the change—click Keep changes if it looks good, or Revert if you want to go back.
Adjust Magnification (Scaling)
If text and icons are too small, adjusting the scaling percentage can make them easier to read without lowering resolution.
Steps to Adjust Scaling
- Right-click on the desktop and select Display settings.
- Scroll down to the Scale & layout section.
- Click the dropdown menu under Scale.
- Choose a larger percentage (e.g., 125% or 150%) to make text and apps larger.
- If needed, choose 100% to return to the default size.
- Changes will apply automatically—no need to confirm.
Additional Tips
- If the display looks blurry after changing settings, try logging out and back in or restarting the computer.
- Some apps may not scale correctly at higher settings. If text looks fuzzy, check the app's display settings.
