When to Use?
For faculty planning to use Pearson Courseware in Fall 2024.
Procedure
We hope your summer is treating you well so far! As we prepare for the upcoming fall semester, we are excited to announce an improvement with how Pearson delivers courseware content (MyLab, Mastering, REVEL, etc.) through the GVSU SAVE program.
As of the Fall 2024 term, Pearson, in partnership with VitalSource, will be updating to Access Pearson Codeless (APC). This integration model, which you may also know as partner integration (PI) or single-sign-on (SSO), leverages the latest LTI 1.3 standard for LMS integrations and consolidates access to all courseware content via a single, one-click entry point in your school's LMS via the GVSU SAVE COURSE MATERIALS link. Please note there will be no change to eBook-only adoptions, as those will continue to be delivered through VitalSource.
Some additional features and benefits of Access Pearson Codeless LTI 1.3 integration include:
- Improved Grade Sync using new LTI 1.3 APIs that ensure scalability, faster sync, and better reliability
- Better Security with a more secure authentication between the LMS, VitalSource, and Pearson, using Oauth2 protocols
- Enhanced deeplinking that supports deeplinking to assignments, course tools, and eText sections/chapters, a feature previously unavailable
- Supports the delivery of Pearson+ eTexts via the LMS for an improved eBook experience leveraging our AI study tools, offline support, etc.
It's important to note that this change requires an LMS upgrade to the LTI 1.3 version VitalSource tool, which is currently scheduled to be completed on August 14, 2024, following the conclusion of summer courses. Therefore, we are kindly requesting that instructors hold off on pairing any Fall 2024 Pearson courseware content through VitalSource/Blackboard until 8/15/2024. In the meantime, you are welcome to set up your Fall 2024 course directly through the Pearson MyLab and Mastering or Revel platforms. Once the LMS upgrade is complete, Pearson's IA Launch Specialist will email you with additional information and instructions for pairing your course through the GVSU SAVE COURSE MATERIALS link in Blackboard.
