Overview
When you start your GVSU Mac for the first time, you’ll complete a short setup to get everything ready, including signing in, securing your device, and installing essential apps. Most setups take about 15–30 minutes, depending on your network connection.
Before You Begin
- Have your GVSU account and password ready
- Connect your Mac to power
Step 1: Sign In
Follow the on-screen setup prompts, then sign in with your GVSU account.
- Enter your username and password
- Complete any multi-factor authentication prompts

Step 2: Confirm Setup
After signing in, the setup process will begin:

Step 3: Automatic Setup
Your Mac will now install apps and settings automatically.

This includes:
- Google Chrome
- Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneDrive, Teams)
- Acrobat Reader
- Zoom
- Security tools
- VPN and printer drivers
Step 4: Sign In to Your Mac
Sign in using your GVSU password when prompted.

Step 5: Finish Setup
Once setup is complete and you reach the desktop, you will be prompted to sign in to GlobalProtect and OneDrive.
