Adding Goals to a Blackboard Ultra Rubric

When to Use?

Use this process when you need to align learning goals or standards to specific criteria within a Blackboard Ultra rubric. This is especially important for tracking student performance against defined outcomes and supporting assessment, reporting, or accreditation requirements. Aligning goals at the rubric level ensures that student work is directly connected to measurable learning objectives.

Adding Goals to a Blackboard Ultra Rubric

  1. Navigate to your course's grade book and select the Settings icon. 
  2. In the grade book Settings panel that opens scroll down to the Course Rubric section and click on the name of a rubric to open it for adding your goal alignments.
  3. In the criteria row that requires an associated goal, click on the Align with Goals link. 
  4. On the Discover Goals page, use the Browse Criteria menu to filter and locate goals by selecting the appropriate goal's set type, goal set, or category.
  5. Click the check box next to each goal statement that you want to add. More than one goal can be selected. 
  6. Click the submit button.
  7. The selected goal or goals will now appear in the Goals and Standards panel. To exit the panel and return to the rubric to make another goal alignment, click on the "X" to close the window. 
  8. In the rubric, the criterion row will now indicate the number of goals that have been aligned.
  9. There's no need to click the save button. Goal alignments are automatically saved.
