Running ANSYS Interactively on Clipper using Open OnDemand

When to Use?

Students and Researchers can use Open OnDemand to run ANSYS on interactive mode on Clipper. This guide covers how to start a session and run ANSYS.

Procedure

1. Access Clipper OnDemand by logging in with your network credentials here.

2. Start a Clipper Desktop session.

3. Fill in the web form to request resources for your session. Guidelines are provided for every account/partition.

4. Depending on how busy the HPC is, your job may be queued. Otherwise, you will be assigned a Mate desktop instance that you can launch.

5. The desktop launches on a separate browser window as below

6. Start a new terminal window and load the ASNSY module then run any features as desired: 

$ module load ansys
$ runwb2

7. The ANSYS workbench should start successfully as shown below:

8. Students can create, save, edit, upload and download files from their OnDemand browser window. The files are available throughout the semester period for classes.

9. Once done working with the environment and your allocated session time is still active, delete the session to free up the resources for other users.
