When to Use?

Loaner laptops are a valuable resource for faculty and staff members who are embarking on high-risk international travel. These laptops are designed to enhance safety, security, and convenience during your trip, providing you with a reliable computing device that meets your needs and export controls.

Do I qualify for a loaner laptop?

  • You must be faculty or staff traveling to a country considered high risk.
  • Countries that are considered high risk include:
    • Belarus, China, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Russia, Syria, Ukraine, and Venezuela

Will my MFA work while traveling abroad?

Procedure

Step-By-Step Guide:

  1. Submit a ticket:

  2. Complete the form:

    • Fill out the form with information regarding your travel plans and technological requirements.

  3. Submit the form:

    • Once you have filled out all the necessary information, click the submit button to send your loaner laptop request to our team.

  4. Loaner laptop allocation:

    • Our team will review your request and allocate a loaner laptop based on availability and compatibility.

  5. Loaner laptop pick up:

    • You will be notified when your loaner laptop is ready  for pick up. 

  6. Loaner laptop usage:

    • Make sure to familiarize yourself with the loaner laptop. Remember, MFA is not allowed in most high-risk countries. 

  7. Return the loaner laptop:

    • Once you return from your trip, please coordinate drop off with a member of the IT Information Security staff.
