When to Use?
What to do when you receive an email notice titled "FINAL NOTICE: Account Deletion Notice - Inactivity Process."
To reduce the security risks associated with inactive accounts, GVSU has established a policy of deleting accounts that have been inactive for twelve (12) months. Based on data gathered at the beginning of the month, the identified GVSU account has shown inactive for a period of at least eleven (11) months. On the first day of the next calendar month (12 months), the account will be automatically deleted. Once the account has been deleted it cannot be recovered.
Procedure
If this account should not be deleted, please let us know immediately by replying to the email notice titled "FINAL NOTICE: Account Deletion Notice - Inactivity Process." You will need to explain why the account needs to be saved as well as why it has not been accessed in the past 11 months. You will also need to submit a request to re-enable the disabled account. Once the account has been re-enabled, please log in to the IT Services website (https://services.gvsu.edu/TDClient/60/Portal/Login.aspx). If you need assistance with the account's password, please contact the IT Service Desk at 616-331-2101.
If this is a sponsored account and would like to maintain the account as active for email purposes only, the account can be converted to an email-only account. If you would like to convert the account to an email-only account, please respond to the email notice titled "FINAL NOTICE: Account Deletion Notice - Inactivity Process." Email-only accounts are not subject to the inactivity process and will not generate future notices.
If you do not take the above actions before the last day of the month, the identified account will be deleted as scheduled. Once the account has been deleted there will not be an option to restore the account’s emails or any of the files saved to the account’s private network drive.
