Account Disable Notice - Inactivity Process

When to Use?

What to do when you receive an email notice titled "Account Disable Notice - Inactivity Process."

To reduce the security risks associated with inactive accounts, GVSU has established a policy of disabling accounts that have been inactive for more than six (6) months. Based on data gathered at the beginning of the month, the identified GVSU account has shown inactive for a period of at least five (5) months. On the first day of the next calendar month (6 months), the account will be automatically disabled.

Procedure

In order to keep the identified account active, please log into the account before the end of the month (using the credentials for the identified account) through a GVSU computer or by logging into the IT Services website (https://services.gvsu.edu/TDClient/60/Portal/Login.aspx). If you need assistance with the account's password, please contact the IT Service Desk at 616-331-2101.

Please note: If you do not log into the identified account before it is disabled, you will need to contact the IT Service Desk at 616-331-2101 to request the account be re-enabled.

If this is a sponsored account and would like to maintain the account as active for email purposes only, the account can be converted to an email-only account. If you would like to convert the account to an email-only account, please respond to the email notice titled "Account Disable Notice - Inactivity Process." Email-only accounts are not subject to the inactivity process and will not generate future notices.

Please note: If the identified account is no longer needed, please respond to the email notice titled "Account Disable Notice - Inactivity Process" stating the account should be removed. The account will then be processed through the account deletion process.

If you do not take the above actions, the account will automatically be disabled.
