  • Welcome.
  • In this short video, we'll walk you through how to use the GVSU Service Portal, your central place to get help, submit requests, and find IT resources.
  • To get started, open a browser and go to services.gvsu.edu & in using your GVSU account.
  • You'll find the sign in option at the top right corner.
  • At the top of the service portal, you'll find rotating items.
  • These highlight important or relevant topics you may want to check out first.
  • For example, if you are a student who needs to register a wireless device in your dorm, you can click Housing, register your wireless device and follow the steps.
  • Another example is if you are a faculty member who wants to schedule a meeting with IT services to review an orientation or training to the technology in the classroom, you can click Classroom or Zoom Technology.
  • Request A demo or training.
  • The first major option is Submit a ticket.
  • This takes you to the service catalog where you can select a category and submit a ticket for assistance.
  • For example, if you are a faculty or staff member who needs to submit a ticket for 24 hour administrator access to your GVSU owned Windows computer, select Desktop and Mobile Computing, then select Software and Applications Distribution, then select Windows 11 Administrator Access.
  • Fill out the ticket as directed and click Submit.
  • Another example is if you need to report a phishing e-mail, select Information Security, then select Security Incident Response and Investigation, then select Report Phishing, fill out the ticket as directed and click Submit.
  • If you cannot find what you are looking for, we highly recommend you search keywords in the search bar at the top right to find the most appropriate option.
  • If you want to search just the Service Catalog, make sure to select the Service Catalog icon.
  • For example, if I search just the Service Catalog for fishing, you will find the Report Fishing service through this method as well.
  • To go back to the main website, click Home on the top banner.
  • Use the Check My Tickets to view the status of any request you've submitted, both current and past.
  • Next, you can view Knowledge Base articles.
  • This is a library of self help articles that can help you solve problems on your own.
  • For example, if you're looking for Wi-Fi help, go to Network Wi-Fi and Internet and browse the catalog to find an article related to the problem or question.
  • If you cannot find what you're looking for, again, we highly recommend you search keywords in the search bar at the top right.
  • If you want to search just Knowledge Base articles, make sure to select the Knowledge Base icon.
  • For example, if I am struggling with connecting my Chromebook to the GVSU student Wi-Fi, I can search the knowledge base for the keyword Chromebook and find an article titled How to Connect a Chromebook to the GB Student Wireless Network.
  • Next, you see the option for IT Project Request.
  • This section is used to start or learn more about IT projects at GVSU.
  • Below the main options are another set of featured items that are popular.
  • Additionally, you have options to get to the Art Museum Service Portal and the House of Residence Life Service Portal.
  • At the bottom of the website are four resources.
  • The 1st is classroom support.
  • If you are having issues in a classroom where you need help with the instructor, station or audio visual technology, click the Submit an IT Classroom Ticket button, Select IT Classroom Conference Room Ticket and fill out the ticket as directed and click submit.
  • But in a classroom if you need help with things like furniture, lighting, heating, and cooling, click the Submit a Facilities Work Order button.
  • Next are popular articles.
  • Here are the most popular articles the GVSU community is currently using.
  • Next is the service status page.
  • The service status page shows whether key systems are working properly or experiencing issues.
  • When you click the service status button it will take you to the service status website and finally contact us.
  • Provides phone, e-mail, and walk up support options along with hours of operation.
  • The Service Portal is designed to make getting help simple and fast.
  • Whether you're submitting a ticket, searching for answers, or checking the status of a ticket, everything you need is right here.
  • Thanks for watching.
