Navigating the Posit Workbench (Rstudio Server) Homepage

Posit is developing new views and processes required to manage Rstudio sessions.  This is an overview of navigating those changes.

Launching a Session

A launcher window is now included in the starting process for new or suspended sessions.  If a session is "active," the laucher window does not appear.

  • Click on "New Session" or the name of an existing "SUSPENDED" session

  • A launcher window will appear. All entries are optional:
    • Session Name - Change the session name so that it is easily identied.
    • Join session when ready - When checked, leave the homepage and enter the session immediately after it becomes active.
    • Notify when ready - Send a notification to your workstation that the session is active.

  • Click "Start Session"

The session will either open or be labeled "ACTIVE" depending on which options were selected.

To join an "ACTIVE" session, click on the session name.

 

Switching the Homepage View 

There is a new, simplified homepage view available to users.  

Switching from the Legacy Homepage to the New Homepage

  • Click on the "Switch to new homepage" link at the top of the page.

Switching from the New Homepage to the Legacy Homepage

  • Click on your name at the top, right of the page and select "Settings."

  • Click the "Default Homepage" drop-down menu and select "Legacy."
