Summary
This article provides instructions for GVSU faculty and staff on how to sign into Adobe products using their GVSU credentials. It also includes troubleshooting steps for common login issues and installation instructions for new users.
This article explains the process to sign in and install all Adobe products, however, while Adobe Acrobat Pro and Adobe Express are free for faculty and staff, Adobe Creative Cloud must be purchased from Technology Acquisition [Link to Technology Acquisition's Adobe Website].
Process
Please use the expandable boxes below to review installation and troubleshooting steps for Adobe products. To check if you already have Adobe products installed on your Windows computer, you can use the search bar at the bottom of the screen to search for Adobe, or Creative Cloud. Similarly, on a Macbook or iMac, you can use the search icon on the upper right of the screen to search for Adobe, or Creative Cloud. If it is installed on either operating system, it will show up as a result when you search for it.
Installing an Adobe Product for the First Time
If you have never installed Adobe on your device, follow these steps:

- When prompted, select Company or School Account.

- After signing in, navigate to the Apps section and locate the Adobe Product you would like to download.

- Click on the app you want to download and follow the on-screen instructions to install the software.
- Once installed, open your Adobe product and sign in using your GVSU credentials to activate the license.
Signing Into Existing Versions of Adobe Products
If the Adobe product you need is already installed on your device. Follow these steps to sign in:
- Open the Adobe product you would like to use on your device.
- NOTE: (For Adobe Acrobat Pro installations only) Signing into Adobe Reader with your GVSU credentials will upgrade Adobe Reader to Adobe Acrobat Pro, adding the editing features to the existing Adobe Reader application and renaming it to Adobe Acrobat Pro.
- When prompted to sign in, enter your GVSU email address.
- NOTE: You may need to sign out of Adobe first by clicking your profile icon in the upper right corner, then selecting Sign Out. After that, click Sign In to proceed.
- Once you enter your GVSU email address, you will be redirected to the GVSU login page. Enter your GVSU network credentials and complete the sign-in process.
- If prompted, select "Company or School Account" instead of "Personal Account."

- Your product will activate and you will be able to use your Adobe product normally.
Troubleshooting Login Issues with Adobe Applications/Adobe Creative Cloud
Troubleshooting Adobe Applications
If you are experiencing issues signing into Adobe applications on your device, please follow these steps:
1. Sign Out of all Adobe Services
2. Sign back into Adobe.com
- Open the Adobe.com website and sign in with your GVSU credentials.
- If prompted, select "Company or School Account" instead of "Personal Account."

3. Sign Out of Adobe Apps
- Sign Out of all Adobe Apps
- On your Windows computer, you can use the search bar at the bottom of the screen to search for Adobe, or Creative Cloud. Similarly, on a Macbook or iMac, you can use the search icon on the upper right of the screen to search for Adobe, or Creative Cloud. If it is installed on either operating system, it will show up as a result when you search for it.
- Sign back into your Adobe Apps using your GVSU credentials.
- If prompted, select "Company or School Account" instead of "Personal Account."
- The app should update with your new license.
Troubleshooting Adobe Creative Cloud
We have noticed that most (If not all) installations of Adobe Products are accompanied by the Creative Cloud App on your computer. If you have upgraded to Windows 11 using the in-place upgrade, it's possible Adobe Creative Cloud is already installed on your device. If you are experiencing issues signing into Adobe products on your device, and the above troubleshooting steps have not worked, please follow these more extensive troubleshooting steps:
1. Sign out of all Adobe Services
2. Sign back into Creative Cloud
- Open the Adobe Creative Cloud desktop app.
- You can search for this application on both Windows and Mac computers.
- Sign out of Creative Cloud and then sign back in using your GVSU credentials.
- Select "Company or School Account" if prompted.

3. Reinstall Adobe products by using Adobe Creative Cloud or by uninstalling an older version of Adobe from your computer and then reinstalling it from adobe.com.
- If you receive an error stating "You need admin access" or encounter other licensing issues, follow these steps:
- Open the Adobe Creative Cloud desktop app.
- Locate the Adobe product in the app list.
- Click Uninstall and wait for the process to complete.
- Reinstall the Adobe product from Creative Cloud.
- Sign in again using your GVSU credentials.
- Admin access should not be required to install Adobe Products onto your computer. However, if you need to uninstall an older version of Adobe, or uninstall Creative Cloud for troubleshooting purposes please follow the below instructions:
- For Windows 11, please request temporary admin access through our automated process located here: Windows 11 Admin Access.
- On Windows 11 you will have to request admin to install/uninstall this application.
- On a Macbook you should already have admin access and be able to install/uninstall Adobe products as needed.
Reinstalling/Uninstalling Adobe Products/Adobe Creative Cloud
Below are the steps to reinstall Adobe Products.
- Adobe Creative Cloud will be installed with your Adobe product installation.
- Open the Adobe Creative Cloud desktop app.
- Locate the Adobe product you need to reinstall in the app list.
- Click Uninstall and wait for the process to complete.
- Reinstall the Adobe Product from Creative Cloud.
- Sign into the Adobe Product again using your GVSU credentials.
- Select "Company or School Account" if prompted.

If you are attempting to uninstall an older version of an Adobe product so you can install a newer version, Please follow the steps to install Adobe for the first time or to sign into Adobe on an existing installation.
Note: If you are uninstalling Adobe Creative Cloud, you will need to use Adobe Creative Cloud to uninstall all associated Adobe apps first. Then you will be able to uninstall Adobe Creative Cloud.
- Admin access should not be required to install Adobe Products onto your computer. However, if you need to uninstall an older version of Adobe, or uninstall Creative Cloud for troubleshooting purposes please follow the below instructions:
- For Windows 11, please request temporary admin access through our automated process located here: Windows 11 Admin Access.
- On Windows 11 you will have to request admin to install/uninstall this application.
- On a Macbook you should already have admin access and be able to install/uninstall Adobe products as needed.
Additional Notes
- We are no longer using https://licensing.adobe.com for Adobe products.
- Please make sure you are signed out of this website since it will not be used for Adobe products.
- All faculty and staff must use their GVSU credentials to activate and license Adobe products.
- All Adobe products are intended for individual use and are not supported for shared accounts.
- If you previously had a perpetual license for Adobe Acrobat Pro, you may need to uninstall and reinstall the software due to licensing changes.
