When to Use?
Scantron scanners should be recalibrated periodically. While there is no set standard, we recommend recalibrating weekly.
Procedure
- Prepare for recalibration
For best results, perform the following before calibrating:
- Clean the scanner and read heads.
- Locate the calibration forms (usually in a white box with instruction sheet)
- Ensure that the calibration forms are clean and undamaged.
- Navigate to the background menu
In order to recalibrate, begin by navigating to the scanner's background menu.
Use the following procedure.
- Enter the background menu by holding down both buttons on the iNSIGHT 4ES Scanner for about five seconds.
When the message "Background Menu" appears, release the buttons.
- Press Next five times or until you reach the Utilities Menu.
- Press Enter to enter the Utilities submenu.
- Perform a Top Head Calibrate function
- Load the calibration forms (part # 202-989-008, pictured in upper right corner)
by placing them in the input tray and depressing the Press To Load button.
The orientation of the calibration sheets does not matter.
- Press Run to calibrate the top read head.
- When calibration is complete, Calibration Complete appears on the screen.
- Press Next to complete calibration and to advance to the next menu item.
- Perform a Bot Head Calibrate function
From the Bot Head Calibrate menu item, perform a bottom read head calibration.
- Press Run to calibrate the bottom read head.
- When calibration is complete, Calibration Complete appears on the screen.
NOTE: iNSIGHT 4 ES scanners require 10 calibration sheets for calibration.
If you run out of calibration sheets, reload the ones that are in the output tray, and press Start to continue calibration.
Press Next at any time to abort calibration.
- Exit the background menu
- Press Next until you reach the Background Menu item.
- Press Exit to exit the background menu.
