Add an Image to a Test Question's Feedback Response in Blackboard (Classic)

When to Use?

Blackboard has disabled the ability to insert an image into test questions response feedback using the Add Content tool as well as the ability to copy & paste images into the message box. An alternative workaround to this issue is enabling the Feedback settings options in the Question Settings. This article will walk you through how to enable the setting and add an image to a test question feedback response.

Procedure

1. From within your Blackboard course, scroll down the course menu until you reach Course Management.Tests, Surveys, and Pools

2. Select Course Tools to expand the list, scroll down until you locate, Surveys, and Pools, and then select Tests.

3. On this page, you will see a list of all tests that are in the course, whether they are deployed or not.

4. Locate the test that you would like to edit, click on the drop-down button next to the title and select Edit from the list.

Edit The Test

5. You will be taken into the test itself. In the top right corner of the page select Question Settings.

Question Settings

6. In the Images, Files, and Web Links section, select both checkboxes then click Submit in the bottom right corner.

7. Navigate to the question you would like to add a feedback image to, click on the drop-down button and select Edit from the list.Choose File to add to Feedback

8. When you scroll through the settings for that specific question, you will now have an option to insert a file into your responses to individual answers and overall correct/incorrect question feedback.

9. Select Browse or Choose File to attach an image file from your local computer. Once you selected the image, you can set the Special action to "Display image within the page" so that students are not redirected out of the test when viewing feedback.

10. If necessary, add an explanatory text to the message. Once completed click Submit in the bottom right.

11. The image, and any explanatory text, will now display as part of the Feedback to students.
