If you're suddenly unable to access your mail on your Android device, or things aren't working quite as expected, you may want to try removing and re-adding your account to your mail app.

These steps will also be helpful if your mailbox has been moved from Microsoft Exchange to Microsoft 365 and your email account is not working correctly on your Android device.

Procedure

If you are experiencing problems connecting to your GVSU Outlook email account on your Android device, the quickest method to resolve any connectivity or syncing issues is to remove and re-add the account.

Microsoft Outook for Android

  1. Open Outlook

  2. Click the Microsoft Logo in the upper left-hand corner (just to the left of Inbox)

  3. Click the gear icon in the lower left-hand corner

  4. Click the GVSU Exchange account you'd like to delete

  5. Scroll to the bottom of this page and click Delete Account

  6. You'll receive a pop-up to confirm account deletion. Click Delete

  7. You'll then be redirected back to the add account screen
  8. Click Add Account

  9. Enter your GVSU email address
  10. Click Continue

  11. You'll then be redirected to an Office 365 login screen
  12. Enter your GVSU network password and click Sign In

  13. After sign in completes, you'll be redirected to a screen asking if you'd like to add another account
  14. Click Maybe Later

  15. Your account is now added, and you'll be redirected to your inbox

Default Android Mail App

(The default mail app will vary depending on make and model of the phone - These instructions were created using a Samsung Galaxy Note 10)

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen
  2. Select the gear icon to access Settings

  3. Click Accounts and Backup

  4. Click Accounts

  5. Select the account you'd like to delete

  6. Click Remove Account

  7. At the confirmation pop-up click Remove Account

  8. You'll be redirected back to the Accounts screen
  9. Click Add Account

  10. Click Exchange

  11. Enter your GVSU email address and click Next

  12. You'll be redirected to an Office 365 sign in screen
  13. Enter your GVSU network password and click Sign In

  14. After sign in and verification complete, click Done
  15. Your account has now been added. You'll need to manually navigate back to the Android mail app
