Exporting Tests with Pool Questions to PDF or Word

Summary

This article guides faculty through the process of exporting test pool questions from Blackboard Ultra into a PDF or Word document. It provides a simple workaround for users who may be unable to use Respondus 4.0, making it easy to review question sets offline, share assessments, or maintain a backup copy. The step-by-step instructions cover creating a test to extract pool questions and saving the test as a PDF, which can then be opened and edited in Word or Google Docs if needed.

Body

When to Use?

This article is for faculty members who need to export test pool questions from Blackboard Ultra into a PDF or Word document. This can help with reviewing question sets offline, sharing assessments with colleagues, or keeping a backup copy of your test pools in an easily accessible format. Although it’s possible to export tests using Respondus 4.0, this method provides a simple workaround for users on incompatible devices.

Procedure

Step 1: Create a test with your pool questions extracted from the pool.

  • Go to your Blackboard course site.
  • Create a new test (specifically to extract out the pools).
  • Once you have a blank test, select the purple plus and choose Reuse questions.

  • On the left side of the screen, under Question Banks, select the pools you wish to extract. Then choose Select all and Copy Questions.

Step 2: Print the test as a PDF to export it from Blackboard into a separate document.

  • Once the questions have been pulled into the test, select Print twice; once on the main screen and once in the pop-up window.

  • When the Print window appears, change the destination to Save as PDF and then select Save.

  • You can now open the saved PDF in Word or Google Docs if you wish to edit the contents.
