Enable Scantron Scan Menu with Trust Center Settings

When to Use?

When logging into a Scantron station computer for the first time after system updates, the Scan Menu may be untrusted.
Security has been enhanced, and you will see the following messages:    

Use the following steps to update the Microsoft Trust Center Settings and activate the Scan Menu.

Procedure

  1. Click OK to close this message window: 
    The active content in this file is blocked. Review your Trust Center settings or contact your IT administrator.​​​​​

  2. Ignore the SECURITY RISK message. There is no need to click the [Learn More] button.
    Ignore the message to ENABLE CONTENT because that button no longer exists.

    Click the File menu.

  3. At the bottom left corner of the File menu, select Options.

  4. In the Options dialog, select Trust Center.

  5. On the right side of that window, click the button Trust Center Settings....
     
  6. On the left side of the Trust Center dialog, select Macro Settings, and choose the bottom entry:
    Enable all macros (not recommended; potentially dangerous code can run).

  7. On the left, choose Trusted Locations.

  8. Click the button Add new location...
     
  9. Erase the path shown in the User Location box.  In its place, type: C:\
    Click to place a check-mark next to Subfolders of this location are also trusted,
    and click OK.

  10. Click OK on the Trust Center dialog.
     
  11. Click OK on the Access Options dialog.
     
  12. If you see this message, click OK.

    You must close and reopen the current database message.
     
  13. Close Microsoft Access.
     
  14. Locate the Scan Menu icon on the desktop to open the Scan Menu (double-click, or right-click it and select Open).

  15. The Scan Menu should appear, ready to use.

  16. The next time you login to this same computer, you should not need to do this again unless new security updates have been applied.
