Zoom Chat - Compose with Formatting, Add Files and More

Formatting options include Headings, bulleted or numbered paragraphs,indentations, Bold, Italics, Underline, Strikethrough, Color Background and/or Text Color, small, medium, or Large size, 

1. Select the Format icon on the Compose bar to display the Format Toolbar (below): 

Options:

Bold	Italics	Underline	Strikethrough	Color	Size	Link

Paragraph (Headings)	Bulleted List	Numbered List	Decrease Indent	Increase Indent	Insert Quote	Clear Style

To add an emoji or a sticker (picture of your choice):

1. Click the Emoji icon  in the compose bar.
   
   
    
2. In the lower left corner of the Emoji menu, there is a face icon and a heart .
   1. The face icon  represents Emojis. 
   2. The heart  is for Stickers, which you can add.
       
3. Click a Frequently used - or any visible - Emoji icon to insert into chat.
    
4. Or find an icon from the long list displayed.
   • Click into Search Emoji and type a word 
   • Scroll using mouse, or arrow keys on keyboard
     (emoji names display as you scroll)
   • Click a category icon and then scroll (or use left arrow, then down arrow, followed by any direction arrow key to scroll in selected group) to find an Emoji.

5. Click the heart  to select a Sticker.  If you have not added any stickers yet, you will see this menu:
   
    

Include an animated image in your chat using the GIF icon 

1. Click GIF in the compose bar.
   
    
2. Search for special topic using the Search bar at the top.
   
   
    
3. Scroll using mouse or arrow keys.
    
4. Click an animated image to select it. Optionally, add text. 
   
    
5. Click Send button.

Share a file via chat. 

1. Click the Attach icon  to open a finder dialog. 
    
2. Choose your file.
    
    
3. Click Open
    
4. Choose to write a message (or not) 
    
   • Without Text
     
      
   • With text
     
      
5. Click the Send icon 
    
6. Message and file appear in chat.
   
   
    
7. To see Options for the Attached file, place mouse over the attachment and select the Dot Dot Dot (ellipsis) icon there:
   
   

Take screenshots while you are in a Chat that you can edit before posting.

1. Choose to Hide the chat window while you obtain a screenshot.
    
   • Click the dropdown to the right of the Screenshot icon.
     
     
      
   • Place a checkmark to Hide the chat window...
      
   • or Uncheck to keep the chat window visible while you take screenshot
     
      
2. Click the screenshot icon  
    
3. Point and drag to select a screenshot rectangle
   
   
    
4. Click Capture to select the screenshot without editing, or
    
5. Use the Screenshot editing tools before clicking Capture.

Record your voice and post the recording in chat.
 

1. Click Voice Message icon. 
    
2. Recording does not start right away...
   
    
3. Click microphone icon in blue circle to begin recording.
   
   • Time elapsed and sound indicators will display as you record.
      
4. Click stop icon in red circle to end recording.
   
   
    
   • Click play  to listen to your message before sending.
      
   • Total time is displayed.
      
   • Click X to Cancel.
      
5. Click Send  button to post message.
   
   

Record a video with your computer camera and attach the video to chat.

1. Click Video Message 
2. See a preview of what will be seen in recording.
   
   
    
3. Click Record to begin.
4. Record your message.
   
   
    
5. Click Stop icon when you are finished recording.
    
6. See the Video Recording as it will appear in your post.
   
   
    
   • Click the play button in the center of the video to preview your message before sending.
   • Click the retake button to replace with a new video message.
   • Click Cancel if you choose to Cancel this Video Message.
      
7. Click the Send icon in the blue circle to send this Video Message.
    
8. The posted video message appears in the Chat with the play button in the center.

Use the Code snippet to display code in an easy-to-read and copy format.

Chat readers can click the View more link to see the code in full within a separate window.
 

1. Select the Code Snippet icon  to open the Create code snippet window:

You can:

• Type or paste code in the middle of the window
• Choose to enter a Title
• Choose a code language to produce proper formatting
• Choose to wrap the text or not
• Drag any edge of the Create code snippet window to resize it
• Click Create snippet button when done
