How to Connect a Chromebook to the GV-STUDENT Wireless Network

When connecting a Chromebook to the GVSU GV-Student wireless network

Procedure

1. Go into your Wi-Fi settings to see list of available networks. 

2. Remove old wi-fi network profiles. To do this you select the wireless network and click on forget.  One at a time, click on the triangle for each network and see if the option to Forget is available.  If option to Forget shows in the network settings, click on forget.  If Forget is not an option, close and move on to next network.

3. After you checked all networks and did Forget, select the GV-Student network and enter the information below.

  • Change the EAP method to PEAP
  • Change EAP Phase 2 authentication to MSCHAPv2.
  • Change the Server CA certificate to Do not check.

  •  Leave these fields blank

  • Enter your GV network account into Identify field. 
  • Enter your GV network password into Password field. 
  • Leave Anonymous Identity empty.

4. Once completed the configuration as described above, click on Connect.  You should now be connected to GV-Student.

Troubleshooting

If the instructions above do not successfully connect the device to GV-Student, connect the device to GV-Visitor and check for updates. If there are updates available, run them and then follow the instructions above again.
