When to Use?
We understand that you like to keep your personal and work lives separate. When you link your personal 1Password account with your 1Password Business account, you can keep your Vault entries all in one place while both accounts remain separate. Your personal account will continue to remain private (as your 1Password Business admin is never able to view your personal Vault data), and if you ever leave the company, your personal account data will remain active and accessible to you.
Procedure
Linking your personal account
Accounts can be added to 1Password applications in the applications themselves. On Windows and Mac, you can
- Open and unlock the 1Password app.
- Click on the drop-down menu arrow next to Grand Valley State University.
- Click the "+ Add an Account" and follow the instructions to add an account.
On Mobile devices
- Open and unlock the 1Password app.
- Click on the GVSU logo on the top right.
- Click the Manage Accounts option.
- Click the "+ Add an Account" and follow the instructions to add an account.
Unlink your personal account from within your company account
To unlink the account, you will need to log in to the webpage https://gvsu-edu.1password.com/ from a browser.
- Once logged in, you will click your name in the top right and select "My Profile."
On the page will be a section that lets you know your family account is active, and by clicking the button, you start the process to unlink your accounts.

You will get a prompt to confirm you want your account unlinked, which requires you to type in the text shown in quotes, "Unlink Account," and to continue using that account, you will be asked to add a payment method for billing, or the account will be frozen.

When you no longer have a business account, this procedure is carried out automatically, and the following time you attempt to sign into your family account, you will be prompted to add a payment method.
